The Benefits of Deliverance

Here at Jazkarta, we think that the biggest benefit of Deliverance is that the designers on the project do not need any special knowledge about the web framework, the CMS, the templating system, or anything else. They just create normal HTML, CSS, and Javascript. This has been a huge win for us. We can work with whatever designer the client chooses; as long as they follow some basic constraints (well-formed HTML, everything has classes), we can use the files they create directly. They can change the design radically, and as long as the classes stay the same, all we have to do is deploy the new design files, and boom – the new theme is live. No touching Plone, Django, Grok, Worpress, or whatever.

Of course, if the organization has several related sites implemented in different systems, it’s a great way to create a uniform design without the headaches of synchronizing changes across systems. The theme for all of the systems is controlled through one set of HTML/CSS files.
